Road Trip to Cowichan Bay

It was another beautiful day when the 4 of us headed out to see what we could see. No agenda. No real place in mind. Just….let’s GO!

And that’s how we ended up in Cowichan Bay at lunch time.

We walked down the street looking for a place to eat and landed on Oliver’s Restaurant and Lounge. I was surprised to see white tablecloths inside. Looks like we found a ‘winner’.

We got seated fairly quickly but waited some time to have someone ask us for our drink orders. Our pretty waitress said it was her first day. Good for her!

But after she finally returned to take our meal orders it took over an HOUR to get our food delivered to the table! We were trying to be patient but it was odd to see the staff (including the cook!) just hanging around the bar, chatting! When the food arrived….it was actually laughable. Albert’s soup was so thick it might have been a stew. Terry’s salmon tacos were cold and Paula and my fish (and chips) were so small it was a one bite to have it disappear! There were other problems but when we told the owner he actually took our meals off the bill. Now I feel badly about that part. But it was the strangest service.

Anyway, after lunch we walked down the boardwalk to see about 15 sea lions lounging ahead. It was quite the sight!

I love the looks of boats and their reflections in the water.

Our next and last stop for the day was Chemainus, known for its many murals.

We found this quaint British shop and checked it out!

Another beautiful day!
