2 Plays and Great Visits
The day before we were to travel to Rosebud, Alberta south, there had been a 100 car pileup between Airdrie and Calgary from blizzard conditions.
I was understandably nervous about our drive down but prayed and hoped for blue skies and dry roads.
That morning it took us about 40 minutes to get from our home to the south of Edmonton due to slick roads and blowing snow!
God was so good to us because the further we travelled, the drier the roads became and the bluer the skies turned. It was a pretty safe drive and a good thing we left early because we basically had just enough time to eat our buffet lunch at the Mercantile and then get to the play,”Miracle on 34th St.”
The food and entertainment were good as always and we absolutely LOVED the play. A very very good production. We’d seen the original movie years ago and it was very fun to see it in theatre form
After the show we met up with our friend, Paul (who was recovering from a cold and only took his mask off for the photo) and we had coffees and a lovely chat about life.
The next day it was off to Calgary with a ‘blowing snow warning’ which was a little nerve wracking at first. But soon the blue sky appeared again along with the dry roads. (When we left Edmonton it was -20 and when we arrived in Calgary it was + 3!)
Our 1st order of business was to pick up our dear friend, Claudia, at her condo and head out for brunch. Terry found a place called “Brouha ha”. It was perfect for us. We had a table away from the door (and others), it wasn’t loud in there, and very tasty food! Terry and I met Claudia in our very first theatre production, “The Second Shepherd’s Play” after we moved to Calgary from Windsor. We’ve been friends for over 40 years and she looks great! (Also….she is 16 years older than me.) We had a super visit too and then it was time for our next meet up with the Artistic Director of A.T.P. in Calgary. It was nice to meet him and his business partner, Pieta, and get to know them a bit. After a time of a rest and dinner to our room later, (pizza) we headed back again to catch their latest production, “The Wizard of OZ”. We both loved the sets as they were all done with recycled materials….like a forest made of blue jeans and the Emerald City made up of green and clear pop bottles!
Driving home today was another safe experience and tomorrow we look forward to welcoming our daughter back from Seattle for Christmas!
