White Rock

One of our families got on of the dreaded virus’ one day. Upsetting as it was, it freed us up to meet up with Terry’s sister, Laurie and her partner, Karen for lunch at Au Comptoir.

This was supposed to be a good burger place, Laurie said, and although they did order the burger I think we got the better deal with our delicious omelette lunches.

Au Comptoir was an intimate, French restaurant on 4th in Kits near us. The place was packed but we did manage to get a table or rather 2 tables pushed together for our lovely lunch. SO great to be with those gals and my lunch was very tasty indeed.

It was a cold, rainy day but we hoped that it would be warmer and sunnier the closer we got to the southern White Rock. It WAS!

Our walk along the boardwalk gave us lots of ‘people and bird watching’ opportunities too.

Soon it was time for a small ice cream cone and after months without that taste it was even more yummy. And the clouds! They were incredible.

We stopped a lot on the longest boardwalk in North America (!) and enjoyed looking at the tide out sands.

Just before it was time to find some dinner we noticed the hugest rainbow! Here are my attempts at trying to capture it…..

Finally, after some driving and then walking around….we settled on a fish and chips place for dinner.

Montgomery’s apparently has been around since the 1920s with many incarnations. Because it’s so close to the U.S. border it’s first name was the Americanuck!

It is still a family business and we saw the parents and 2 daughters doing a great job together to get food on the table. Our beer battered fish was fresh and tasty with good fries too. No wonder they’ve been in business for over 100 years!
