Dandelion Craft

I watched a tutorial on making a small craft that I thought would be great for our grandsons.

And, you know how it is, it looked EASY in the video…ha ha.

Here are the things you need to create a dandelion captured in time to hang in your window….

Acetate sheets, a lid for tracing, paper clips, glue, string, gloves, scissors, rose gold paint…and of course dandelions.

I just thought ,”Hey, children love to collect wee plants and flowers and they enjoy hanging things in their windows.” It was a good idea maybe.

But the truth of it is that my first effort in following the instructions exactly how she showed on the video was a fail. Ha ha.

It was very difficult to hold the 2 layers of acetate (plastic sheets) over the dandelion and glue at the same time. Also I thought the glue would take seconds to adhere and I read later ..’For best results wait 24 hours…” ha ha again.

Trying to put the paint on the edges was so hard and messy too.

My second attempt went a bit better as I used the paper clips to hold it closed and then a small paint brush to apply the craft paint on the edge.

The funny thing is that my sister, Paula, was having the same idea in Windsor and she actually DID a similar craft with great success with her little ones. She used premade stickers in which to place the small flowers and leaves. The stickers were in the shape of Mason Jars, etc. I’ll have to try that next time. She just reattached the top sticker to the bottom and …..done!
