A Pop of Blue!
Have you ever felt blue? Of course you have! We all feel that way sometimes. But the blue colours that you’re seeing in my photographs actually make me feel happy. I love the colour blue!
The colour blue has been known to be connected with Nature, Business, Military, Art, and Royalty over the years. The very first known use of blue pigment was naturally found in the mineral azurite and used in ancient Egypt for their jewelry and decor.
The sky appears blue on a clear day or an Edmonton type day with puffy, white clouds. It is the colour of the ocean and the deep blue of the sea. We can have the ‘blues’ when we’re feeling low but we can listen to the blues music to cheer us up! Blue can also be associated with being calm or cold.
There are many pigments, dyes, and inks in shades of blue. I have painted with powder blue, turquoise, azure, lapis, cobalt, navy, indigo, maya, cerulean, cornflower, and cyan blue among others.
Next time you look into someone’s ‘baby blues’ remember to compliment them on their beautiful eyes. Think about the ‘bluebird of happiness’ while you enjoy your blueberries. It might have been a blue moon since you have heard from a friend so put on your blue jeans and go over for a visit!
