Zocalo
The last time I went to Zocalo must have been at least 15 years ago. Back then my friend, Albert, and I would go there to look for gifts or plants in their tiny store.
So I was surprised when I met up with my friend, Cathy, to find out it had been renovated some time ago into a very large, very beautiful greenhouse , gift and flower shop, and snack shack.
I was also surprised to find out that I couldn’t get into the door by myself as the first step was so high and had no railing. Cathy helped me in.
Zocalo has the most eye catching gift/flower shop. I was so excited to walk around and see all of their beautiful wares that come from all over the world. But first Cathy and I went to the counter to purchase a cup of tea.
While I was leaning against the middle of the front counter I was beckoned to the right to use my credit card. I didn’t really take note of how uneven the floor was but I did notice that it was made of beautiful planks of wood. As I stepped to the right my foot got caught on one of the seams of the floor and I instantly flew down to the floor with a crash. I only heard myself yelling, “Oh NOoooooo!” and the back on my head took the major brunt of the fall.
I was SO shaken and also worried not only about my head (was I bleeding?) but about the possibility of broken bones. If I WAS o.k. I was terrified that I would not be able to get up from the floor because of my bad knees. Cathy and the staff rushed to my aid and put a soft coat under my head after Cathy disengaged my hair from the zipper of my purse.
When I knew I was going to be alright I sat up and within seconds 3 big men (?) gently grabbed me under my arms and lifted me up as if I were the lightest child. What a relief!
Cathy and I had just gotten our teas on the table when she accidentally knocked it and they splashed all over and drained onto the floor. YIKES! Hot tea alert! Ha ha. “Well…..that’s two”, I said.
After our snack, I did do a bit of shopping before I left for home. Upon arriving back I noticed my dear friend, Louise had dropped off a grocery bag of apples on my porch. I lifted them into the house ,the bag broke, and the apples rolled every which way.
That’s three!
But all is good and I’m glad I’m o.k. And now I can make apple crisp!
