Recording Week with Laura’s Vocals
Have you ever felt that every morning you have to clear your throat? Well, I have felt like this most of the time but it was especially bad in July for some reason.
So I was nervous about the week I’d reserved for recording my good vocals. Would I be able to get the 15 songs done in only 4 days? Would my voice crack ? Would I ruin take after take?
As per usual my friend James from Two Bodies of Water Studio came to ME instead of me having to maneuver the stairs at his new studio. SO kind.
He set up in the living room and gave me an amazing mic to use…top of the line!
I was shocked when we got SIX songs recorded on the first day….it went SO well. My family was out at the mall playing Goofy Golf so after unplugging fans and removing ticking clocks and anything else that might be heard on the recordings we had perfect quiet as well.
What a great first day!
I was even MORE shocked the next day when we……..FINISHED the album! It was just a terrific session of good recordings and very little mistakes, thanks be to God. Still, I did have to record each of my songs at least twice so my voice was certainly tired at the end of the day. Now my sisters will have a good track to sing their harmonies to in a few weeks.
That night we wanted to celebrate to we chose Greek food at Yanni’s in Old Strathcona. It was delicious.
What a summer! Lots to do and more visits to come!
