A Happy Visit/A Sad Visit

It has already been so nice to have our daughter, L, and her husband, J, here with us for a week long visit.

We have had meals together, shared stories, photographs, and of course lots of laughs. I love playing board games with them too.

On Canada Day we surprised the twins and J with tickets to see “Something Rotten” at Shakespeare in the Park. We hoped it wouldn’t rain as it has been every day for weeks. We also purchased 2 mosquito zappers for the evening.

That same week Terry and I had lunch with our wonderful priest, Father Dean Dowle. It was bittersweet as he will be moving to Lloydminster (FOUR hours away!) in 2 weeks. I am sort of heart broken about it because he is truly kind, holy, and creative, brilliant, and loved.

We met up at the new Hathaway’s diner near our house and stayed there for 2 hours catching up on the latest and saying ‘good-bye’ too. Yes, we’ll see him again at masses but he is a busy guy.

I hope our next priest can at least partially live up to the incredible legacy Dean will leave behind.

P.S. we gave him a painting (I purchased at Art in the Park in Ontario) of a priest called, “Don’t Mess With The Missionary Man”, Dave Pellizzari’s book, “It’s Not My Fault”, and my new album, “Storm Heaven”.
