Something’s Afoot this Summer

As you know, we’ve had so many visitors and exciting times this summer, 2025.

Last Wednesday and Thursday were no different.

I started off going to the pool to work on my sore body and see my nice friends there too.

Speaking of sore body, next up was a trip to the Vein Clinic where I had a procedure done to prevent my left ankle from exploding blood again. Ha ha. ‘Can’t say it didn’t hurt …..7 needles and no freezing…but the bleeding was short lived and I was told to wear my compression socks for three days and three nights.

That afternoon I met my lovely friend, Cathy H for a meal at The Art of Cake and it didn’t let me down! Yummy food, beautiful decor, and wonderful conversation. Terry Golfed.

Thursday, Terry had a board meeting then we both had a meeting with a lighting guy to fix our outdoor lights.

Then it was off to the Marian Centre where we both made great progress on our newest paintings.

We changed our clothes there in time to buzz over to the MacDonald Hotel where we attended our first Catholic Social Services Fundraiser evening. It was very well done.

It was fun to get dressed up and go to this beautiful room in the hotel. The ceiling details alone were incredible. There must have been about 150 people there?

And we also saw sooooo many folks we knew and our beloved Fr. Dean was there as well. We found a table right away which was a blessing because quite a few people leaned against tall tables all evening.

The food was copious and fresh and very good from ‘mini sliders’ to charcuterie to desserts.

There were only a few ‘talks’ and they were concise and interesting….(like a couple who talked about their joy in fostering children). One of the wonderful surprises of the night was that our good friend, Ben, from our church won an award for being the outstanding philanthropist of the year. Ben is 100 years old! Also the head of the CCS is our friend, Troy from church.

Glad we could contribute to this very worthy charity and I would attend again!
