The Fringe Tea House

In China it is said that tea houses began in the Tang Dynasty, a time known as the ‘golden age of culture’. People gathered to hear news, share stories and watch jugglers or hear Opera singers in the Song Dynasty.

Well, at the Edmonton Fringe you can have the option of watching a wonderful acting troupe called Die-Nasty, the Canadian award winning soap opera. Ha ha

This year with prices being so high and us being so old we didn’t take in too many shows. ( $20. a person this year.) But we were invited to a delightful teahouse at one of the Fringe venues, the Trinity Anglican Church, in the basement, by our good friends.

Cathy and David Harvey were volunteering there and we took them up on their offer to visit with them and have a fresh scone and tea of our choice.

We got the last parking spot in the lot too!

The scones were fresh and came with choices of jam and clotted cream of course. Terry and I shared a pot of Orange Pekoe tea and we joined another nice couple at the table. Fun getting to know them and the tea service was so nice too.

After awhile David said the parking spots were only for volunteers. So I suggested that Terry don an apron….and volunteer to serve tea!

Cathy took the order and Terry brought it out …ha ha. Done. Our spot in the parking lot was legit!

Our new friend at our table said next year she’s going to have a scone there everyday. Good thing she and her husband bike everywhere…!

I raised my cuppa to our dear friend, Rosemary, whose birthday was that day. May she live a long and healthy life, one filled with joy and peace.

And to our other dear friends who are going through a lot right now….Peace. Health. Trust. And sending my love.

Always.
