Happy Canada Day!

Canada Day, celebrated annually on July 1st, commemorates the anniversary of the British North America Act, which united three separate British colonies into a single nation called Canada on July 1, 1867.

Initially, the holiday was known as Dominion Day, but it was officially renamed Canada Day in 1982 when Canada gained complete independence from Britain.

With all the craziness going on in other countries in our world today, I am especially glad to call myself a Canadian.

Happy Canada Day, my fellow Canadians.

Enjoy the many festivities going on in your part of the country (picnics, pancake breakfasts, fireworks, etc.) and let us all stand proud and free for many years to come.
