GWA 2026
For the last 29 years or so I’ve been getting together with my 3 beloved sisters for a “Girls’ Weekend Away”.
It is a fantastic mix of heart to hearts and silliness every time. We SO enjoy being together and this year was no exception in that way. It was our sister, Paula’s 65th so we decided to have a ‘theme’ of celebrating the start of her ‘golden years’ as a senior.
We actually celebrate all of our birthdays which are so close together. We do this the first evening and everyone always thinks of the most thoughtful gifts! The next day I took the girls to Mrs. Bell’s Teahouse for afternoon tea. (Of course I did….ha ha). We all had an enjoyable meal and had a lot of laughs when we presented Paula with her new crown and golden outfit. (Mary found ALL of the gold adornments.)
Saturday evening found us going to an excellent movie : the new “Devil Wears Prada 2”. Sunday we went to St. Joseph’s for mass and then enjoyed our leisure time playing games. We especially enjoyed the new game Lana gave me called So Clover.
We always enjoyed the continental breakfast at the Retro Hotel. A wee pigeon came to see us off on the way to his building a nest. After we checked out we tried our luck (and HAD some!) at the casino in Chatham. On the way home we stopped at Holiday Beach to look for the famous pelicans. We didn’t see any but we did see some deer crossing a river.
I’d never been to this beach but it was very beautiful.
Another wonderful GWA. I love you, my sisters!
