Our Parish Picnic
We have been to most …if not all…of our parish of St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church’s parish picnics.
There is a difference now. A real good one. The picnic started at 3 pm and we arrived at 3:07 pm.. At that time we could only find ONE parking spot in the whole, huge lot and the lawn by the church was jam packed with families. Why? I know why: Fr. Dean! He organizes classic outdoor games with the committee, he leads them all in egg toss or tug of rope, etc., and he even chooses the playlist that he uses in the next few hours.
He makes all feel welcome and the desserts are worth the price of admission. Well, admittedly, it is free!
In the last photo above you can see our friend, Ben, who turned 100! It was a great day for hats…and chats with old and new friends.
Fr. Dean also invited various Catholic factions to our event and they arrived! It was so cute to see the little ones playing with hoola hoops or crafts or chalk on the sidewalk. There really was something for everyone. We just had to bring our own chairs , plates, and utensils.
Young, old, teens, and tweens….everyone seemed to enjoy the afternoon under the shade of the large trees. You had your choice of the classic hotdogs or hamburgers with the various fixins’ and like I said, it was difficult not to overeat when it came to the potluck desserts! Yum!
Thanks, Fr. Dean Dowle, for all you do for our parish. We love you!
