Let the Christmas Visits Begin!
It’s the time of year to connect with friends…in their homes and perhaps in a restaurant. December is half way through and I’ve already been having some lovely Christmas visits. My first one was at the Western Sandwich Shop in Manchester Square. My friend, Marla, and I had a delightful visit with a yummy lunch and a fun exchange of gifts.
That evening Terry and I had the pleasure of going out to the Citadel Theatre to enjoy a brand new musical about 2 of Stuart McLean’s stories. He has passed on but he’s also ‘passed on’ his legacy of fantastic tales as seen in the Vinyl Cafe. It was wonderful.
Sunday, we went to the ‘open’ mass at the Marian Centre and then had a surprise visit at the potluck downstairs from St. Nicholas himself!
Before mass we all signed our names on the back of a card and put it in a basket. After mass we all headed downstairs to the dining room to see Hugo’s latest, incredible creche and to have breakfast. St. Nicholas had us each choose one card from his basket and this was the person we will pray for all year. I love this tradition! We also were encouraged to find ‘our person’ if we did not know them.
Another wonderful tradition we have is to invite my pool friends over for a potluck, Christmas luncheon.
One of them told me it was the 10th year we’ve done this at our home! We love these folks and even though we have all scattered to different pools or parts of the city it is always a joy to be together and take up where we’ve left off in the conversation category. The food was great….(Terry cooked a full turkey with all the fixins’) ….and our friends brought over the appies, desserts, or wine if they wished. It was a beautiful time and after lunch we sat around and played ‘Tribond’ and that was fun too.
Our friends told me that our old pool is going to reopen but unfortunately, I like my new pool!
Did I mention I had prizes for the TriBond game? That was fun too!
More visits to come. Do you have some pre-Christmas plans?
