Manchester Square
5 years ago this lovely little section of town came to light and it reminded me so much of places I’ve seen in Europe.
For a while it seemed like the developers had trouble filling the individual shops but eventually it has become a vibrant place.
That is why the other day my sister, Paula, and I went to finally check it out!
This re-development totalling 57,000 sq.ft. located on the corner of 120 Street and 107 Avenue and just blocks from the bustling 124 Street shopping district and Brewery District, provides unique architecture and atmosphere. Bringing a touch of European grace to the area, this creatively designed building with distinct features will be home for up to 19 locally owned shops and businesses. An outdoor fountain, a 20 ft promenade for casual strolling while enjoying free Wi-Fi, a hidden indoor alleyway with artistic features that will let visitors feel like they are walking the streets of Europe, in addition to plenty of parking on a private lot, make Manchester Square an extremely attractive destination …… ( From their website)
We checked out the 3 lunch options along the walk and decided on the Sandwich Shop. We split a delicious grilled cheese and bacon on focaccia bread with a green salad. It was just the right amount. We met “Marina” our waitress from Ukraine and had a great but sad chat with her about her family back home.
While we walked around and checked out the shops we heard crazy thunder in the northeast. No rain so we left our coats in the car. I was particularly happy to see that the Tin Box store has relocated here as it was one of my favourite gift shops before they moved out of High Street.
As we got into the car to head home these big, fat raindrops came down but it was still sunny. No rainbow to be seen but we got home before the big rains.
I really recommend you checking out this pretty area of town. I heard they even set up a huge t.v. on Oiler’s Game night and had a watch party outside!
Glad we went….we’ll be back!
