White Rock Day

Our friend, Bev, decided to take the ‘walk on’ ferry to Vancouver from her home in Sidney on the island and we told her that it would our pleasure to pick her up and hang out for a nice day in White Rock.

The day didn’t go exactly as planned.

Terry and I were hoping for sun but it might have been the day that rained hardest during the month of April…ha ha. On the way there we saw SO many eagles but it was hard to take a photo of them to show you. We also saw so many huge eagle’s nests.

On the way to White Rock we thought of different things to do to stay out of the weather and we suggested perhaps walking through a mall. Bev said she despises that kind of shopping and we don’t love it either.

We arrived and I took Bev to my favourite clothing shop. At the time I never realised the irony of taking my friend to a place she probably would never step into. Oops.

After finding a couple of pretty, new dresses (for me) we went across the street to The Boardwalk Restaurant for lunch. It was empty and the food was fairly marginal. But we did teach her to play Tile Rummy and that passed some time.

Terry and I had an errand to do in “Nearby” Surrey so all of us drove out together to pick up a bike from a friend as a surprise birthday gift for our eldest grandson from his parents.

When we didn’t realise is how far away Surrey actually was! We got Bev back to the ferry with only 2 minutes to spare. We said our good-byes and headed back to the highway home and a Zoom work call that Terry had to be back for.

Then we received the texts from Bev.

She missed the ferry.

It was going to be TWO HOURS before the next one.

Now it was delayed another hour.

Bev now missed a pre-planned dinner with her friend back home.

Ugh.

What a bad closure to a day that held so much hope.

Darn.
