Road Trip to Millet, Alberta
We know that before we know it the weather will become colder and possibly nasty. So once again we took advantage of the beautiful day and drove off to explore the wee town of Millet.
Millet is a town of 1,990 people. It is a quaint town and one that Terry has been to…if only to visit with his musical director for DREAM.
Although it is a tiny place we hoped it would have a lovely diner…and we were not disappointed. We discovered the “Old Bank Café” and we loved it so much that we will be back!
I always enjoy it when a place has kitsche decorations and one feels cozy when they enter. The Old Bank….really WAS an old bank and they have the bank vault doors to prove it!
But before we even walked into the place we noticed a cute sign that said a spot just outside the door was reserved for Anita. And wouldn’t you know it….”Anita” was inside ,having coffee with a friend. She said that she came to Millet when she was 16 and now has over 70 relatives with her large family that she has helped create. She’s been in Millet for about 65 years or so.
After a wonderful lunch (Terry had a yummy smashburger sandwich with roasted potatoes and I had biscuits with peanut butter and jam) we purchased a few homemade sweets to take with us, and then we found a lovely gazebo in a park and played Tile Rummy (of course!).
