Catholic Social Services
Terry and I have supported the Catholic Social Services event the last couple of years. It takes place at the fabulous Mac Hotel.
It is SUCH a great cause and we enjoy the presentations, the folks we know or meet, and the food is top notch too.

It was a funny beginning to the evening.
We were visiting with my sister, Paula and her husband, Albert. They live south of the river. I knew that I wanted to get to the event early because it is a mostly standing room only evening and I cannot do that anymore. But, as happens, time got away from us and when I looked at my watch we were already late…ha ha.
So we took our hasty good-byes and drove home first to change into nicer clothes. That made us even later by 20 minutes or so and then we had to drive back downtown…another few minutes…. and park.
I decided that the best option for me to get through the evening was to ride in on my electric wheelchair because then I would be guaranteed a seat! Terry lifted it into the car and said he would be fine and luckily…he was! I knew that I would shock some people when I arrived this way and the explanations would be often and embarrassing for me. Oh well.
The CEO, Troy, is a friend of ours from church and he is just about to become a deacon. He is an incredibly giving man and has a wonderful family too. It was so nice to see our dear friend, Sr. Mary Clare, and I laughed when I saw my friend, Wendy, from the pool. She was definitely shocked to see me in the chair…ha ha.
All the speakers were really good but it was surprising to hear about the human trafficking that goes on in our own city and in Canada. Ugh.
We saw a fair amount of people we know from our parish and even our new priest, Fr. Thomas, was there. Our friend, Ben was there too and he was standing! He’s a young man at 101 years old!
