Road Trip to Westlock, Ab.
We finally had a sunny day for our Tuesday “Terry and Laura” day which we save for us. Tuesdays and Thursdays we protect and the other days of the week are filled with other adventures.
This day we decided to almost ‘flip a coin’ for which direction we would head . We just wanted to go for about an hour drive and end up somewhere for lunch. After we do our rosary we love to listen to our latest audio book on the way. This time we listened to “Yesteryear” which is a neat story about a ‘social influencer’ who ends up finding herself back in the pioneer days!
We love stopping to look at old farm buildings, pretty skies, fields, and then the town itself with its interesting buildings.
It was a nice ride out !
We discovered that there was a tractor museum in town so we decided to check it out…..
There were old tractors outside that we checked out before we made our way inside….
After checking out the lobby we entered the massive tractor collection space….
As we entered we encountered the oldest tractors. Incredible, huge and heavy ‘beasts’ that people created to advance from just horse plows. There was even a kit a farmer could purchase to make their own tractor out of car!
These tractors must have weighed a ton and they were so BIG! They were also in incredibly good condition. It was interesting to read the signs along the way too.
There was also an upstairs that Terry hiked up to see. It was a really great museum. In the last photo above you will see a plow that we saw outside and it is the very kind that Terry had on his farm when he was growing up in Ontario!
Next, it was time to find some lunch so we went back downtown to find a wonderful restaurant that was inside an refurbished United Church….Kerri’s!
All in all it was a great trip and the book continues to be fun.
But, that night…..more storms!
