Around The World In 80 Minutes
I’m so lucky that I made it home in time to attend a really fun party with my pool friends.
It was based on the book, “Around The World in 80 Days” but of course we only had a few hours together…ha ha. The idea was to bring a food dish that reflected either our heritage or one of our family’s favourite dishes. I decided to make my Mum’s bread and butter pudding and it was a big hit! We had to label the dish as well as including the ingredients (for preventing allergic reactions.) I loved the “Welcome” shirt at the front of the house.
Apparently, it’s been raining for weeks here in Edmonton and although we had pockets of sun (our hosts hoped we could eat outside) it ended up pouring this day as well.
It was fun to try all different foods. We were also told to bring a gift (something not used from home -or something created -or something from travels) and the game would be explained after lunch. L and J have a gorgeous bungalow with lots of corners to check out filled with beauty from their travels and ‘L’s” quilting.
I can’t believe how blessed I am to have met more ‘pool’ friends who are super kind and welcoming.
And I forgot to mention that the OUTSIDE of the house is like walking through a massive park…..
The game was very fun too. It was like ‘musical chairs’ except you kept passing the gifts to the music and when it stopped you decided to either keep what was in your hand or to pass it along for the next turn. I ended up with a beautiful pillow from India that goes with my living room perfectly! There was also a chance to win a prize for answering the quiz they had about where certain doo dads came from. (I didn’t play because I was asked to be the photographer that day.)
What a lovely way to spend a rainy day!
