The “G.W.A” 2025

On the May Long Weekend it was time to step out into our busy lives and step into the rental van to drive to Chatham, Ontario and the “Retro Hotel”.

We started off with our Mum who treated us to breakfast at “Potka’s” in Windsor. Thanks, Marmie!

Then , as we couldn’t check in that early we looked for photos, went to the nearby “Birdie’s Nest” for some shopping, and then had lunch at the Casino.

We love this hotel because it not only filled with kitschy and fun artworks but there are elevators and comfy beds in our loft rooms where we sleep two to a room. This is our 3rd year at this hotel and as long as at least 2 of us can still get up to the loft rooms we’re good…ha ha.

The first evening we celebrate our birthdays with silly/fun presents and that evening we enjoyed pizza for dinner in one of the rooms and a games night of “Tile Rummy”.

The following day, Saturday, was very blustery and cool but we managed to enjoy a walk to the nearby flea market/antique store and old bookstore after a yummy continental breakfast. There were no plates at the breakfast buffet so we had to put things in these flimsy white bags. Add it to just one of the many many laughs we had when Mary’s bag ripped and all her choices fell to the floor. Ha ha. All was edible but it was that slapstick we can’t help laughing at.

That afternoon we took in the movie The Thunderbolts. I do not really like Marvel movies but this one was actually funny and had a good story so I/we enjoyed it very much. That night it was back to the ‘games room’ for a fast food (Tim Hortons/Popeye’s) dinner and Tile Rummy again.

My ankle started to bleed again but Pam came to the rescue and cleaned and re-taped it up. Thanks, Pamela!]

On Sunday we enjoyed mass at St. Ursula Catholic church and we went for a drive after to Blenheim to see what we could see.

So many beautiful landscapes, houses (lived in and abandoned), and fun murals and sculptures to find.

We all love photography so it was a very enjoyable day.

St. Thomas was a nice place to explore too…..

Our last day together we decided to drive back to Windsor to Pam’s to use one of the gifts our Mom gave us : wee paint-by-number kits! We really had fun doing these tiny paintings that came with frames and then we had an “Applebees” dinner, then back to Pam’s for a movie night.

I can’t believe how fast the time is going here!

Till next year, my beloved sisters!
