90 Years Young
I love my Mum. My “Marmie”.
She is beautiful…and yes….inside and out.
I have had the privilege of knowing her for some of her 90 years and I can say that I admire her SO much.
She raised us 5 children to love God and each other. She gave us all a foundation of love and taught us to be kind and joyful.
Our family loves to be together and now that some of us have moved away we long to be together.
During my recent visit I found out some things I’d never heard before. My mother was pretty much a ‘star’ athlete at the high school, the same high school I attended years later. ( I was NOT an athlete of any kind…ha ha).
She got the leads in her school plays and awards for her athleticism. She was the valedictorian. And yes, she is modest and reminds me that the school had just opened and was small.
My mum loves my dad and they’ve been married for 67 years this July. My father is 93! They still live in their own home and cook their own meals. My mum and dad are artists ( She loves painting original cards) and my Marmie loves doing puzzles. They both sang in the church choir for years and she has been told she has a voice like an angel.
She’s hilarious.
Mum plays the piano by ear and loves to play her congas at a party. She is a wonderful gardener but has had to take it easy these days due to sore knees. She keeps her mind sharp with her online games and the many books she reads. Mum is a great grandmother to 9 and grandmother to 14 grandchildren.
Our family got together a few times to celebrate her 90th…..
We siblings gave her a ‘bouquet’ of gift certificates to her favourite places.
Happy birthday, Marmie. You are SO loved!
