What a Week!
The Easter Triduum was an emotional and yet beautiful 3 days of thanking God for all he’s done for us.
Terry and I volunteered to have our feet washed by Fr. Dean on Holy Thursday, and we loved our Easter Sunday with family and friends. In the evening we had a lovely meal at our friend, Jazz’s home and the next evening we enjoyed another super meal at my sister, Paula’s home.
Who would have thought that the next night Albert would need an ambulance for a medical condition. Not my story to tell but I mention it because the following evening I was also taken by ambulance to a hospital!!!!
During that day I had the ‘pleasure’ of having my yearly mammogram, breast ultrasound, and bone density testing. It really stresses me out but I got through it.
When I arrived home I took the time to bring a nice little snack (Fritos) onto the front porch with it’s newly uncovered furniture of the season. I had a pop and one paper towel as a napkin. I kicked my legs up onto our ottoman and noticed a purple bump on my ankle that I’ve had for years. I wondered if it was hard or soft. I pushed on it and was absolutely shocked to see a gushing spring of blood pop into the air 3 to 4 inches long.
It started to soak into the cushion and pour onto the porch. I took the paper towel and pushed it down onto the ankle as hard as I could but it was bleeding SO much. What the?
A) I called out to 2 people on the street that were walking by….” Help! . One did not stop as he said he had to keep walking his dog. The other did come up and had a funny response…”But I’m just a lawyer.” ha ha.
B) I asked her to go inside and fetch me more towels which she did and in the meantime I tried to text my neighbourhood What’s App group for help too.
C)Suddenly, a neighbourhood man ran over and he was actually a fireman and a former Oiler hockey player! He brought first aid stuff with him and put a proper bandage on the ankle. An ambulance was called.
D)Off we went with Terry now home and to meet us at the hospital. (He is the best: he brought basically a picnic basket of books, dinner from Tim Horton’s, pops, my iPad, snacks, etc.. Boy, did that help to pass the time.)
As usual it was hours before we finally got a room and a chance to meet up with a doctor. He had never seen anything like it. Great.
But after putting pressure on it TO bleed it finally stopped and he sent us home. Some sort of varicose vein blew. Why? Nobody seems to know.
E)Back to happy times : I met up with my great friend, Pat, for lunch one day, had my sister over for a wee birthday celebration that same afternoon, and then the next day I went to the 90th birthday celebration of my wonderful friend, Norma.
Happy birthday, Paula and Norma!
Norma is in the polka dot sweater. Can you believe she is 90?
